ごあいさつ

信濃町は、長野県の北端に位置し、西は長野市、南は飯綱町、東は中野市、飯山市、北は新潟県妙高市に隣接する四季折々の自然に恵まれ、周囲は国立公園黒姫山、飯縄山、戸隠山、妙高山や斑尾山などの北信（信越）五岳に囲まれ、国立公園野尻湖もある風光明媚な観光と農業の町です。

また、雄大な山並みに抱かれ、花静かなる田園の広がる自然、お米やそば、トウモロコシ、トマトなど大変おいしい農産物に恵まれ、ナウマンゾウなどで知られる野尻湖湖底発掘や俳人小林一茶の生誕、終焉の地であり、信州の児童文学やドイツの文学者ミヒャエル・エンデの資料を展示した黒姫童話館、四百年以上の歴史をもつ信州打刃物の里、北国街道の交通の要所でもあり昔から多くの文人が訪れた歴史と文化の町でもあります。
国内外の多くの皆様にお出かけいただきますようお待ち申し上げます。

「住んでよかった信濃町を次の世代へ」のキャッチフレーズのもと、すべての町民がこの信濃町に住んでいることに誇りを持ち、穏やかな充実感に満たされている・・・・・・、そんな思いを実感できる町づくりを進め、次の世代へ引き継ぎます。

Message from the mayor

Shinano-machi is located at the northern end of Nagano prefecture adjacent to Myoko city Niigata prefecture in the north, Nagano city in the west, Iizuna town in the south and Nakano city and Iiyama city in the east. It is surrounded by Hokushin(Shinetsu) five peaks such as National Park Mt.Kurohime, Mt.Iizuna, Mt.Togakushi, Mt.Myoko and Mt.Madarao.
The nearby mountains are popular for powder snow skiing in winter and hiking in the warmer months because of their spectacular views.
The town, which includes Lake Nojiri National Park, is a scenic sightseeing and farming town blessed with the beautiful nature in all seasons.

It is not only blessed with magnificent mountain ranges, It also has flower and Agriculture spreading throughout the valley. Delicious produce such as rice, buckwheat (Soba), tomatoes and corn are available at the local Farmers market when in season.
Furthermore, the town is well known for the Lake Nojiri’s excavation site of “Nauman elephant”, the birth and death place of a famous haiku artist Issa Kobayashi, the hometown of “Shinshu forged blades” with a history of over four hundred years.
You can even find Shinshu's juvenile literature and German writer Michael Ende's material at “Kurohime Fairy Tale Museum”.

The town is a vital point of transportation of the “Hokkoku Kaido”, and it is also a historical and cultural town where many writers have visited from long ago.
We look forward to seeing many people visiting our town from both in Japan and overseas.

Our new slogan is "Hand over the great Shinanomachi where we are happy to live to the next generation".
I would like every one of us in this town to be pround to live here and feel calmly fullfilled. In order to make it happen, we aim to promote town development and pass along the great town to the next generation.
